Interior Design Kensington
Most people associate the term ‘architect’ with a person who designs buildings, someone who prescribes the size, shape, layout and look of the structure itself. Here at Gregory Phillips we take a more holistic approach. We are able to integrate the design of the fabric of the building with interior design and landscaping to maximise the potential of the entire property, not just the bricks and mortar or other construction materials, and brings it all harmoniously together.
Kensington
Kensington is a beautiful area of London that spreads west and south from Kensington Palace and Gardens. It is home to the V&A and the Design Museum, along with many other iconic buildings such as the Royal Albert Hall. It is an area full of well-preserved period residential properties—mainly from the Victorian and Edwardian eras.
This makes it one of our favourite places to work. We are fortunate to have been able to carry out a number of projects in this area, as well as neighbouring areas such as Chelsea, Knightsbridge and Belgravia.
Interior Design
Not all period properties are listed, though many are. Many property owners are hesitant to change the interior of their home for fear of destroying something of historical significance. At the same time, modern lifestyles are very different to those for whom these properties were originally built.
Gregory Phillips has a fantastic track record of working with historic buildings, of finding ways to bring them up to date and make them work better for the occupants, while treating their history and structure with the respect it deserves. We can also advise on whether you will need listed building consent and will manage that for you if required.
We can advise on structural alterations, such as extensions or remodelling, as well as interior design. A fresh perspective on the layout and usage of your rooms often reveals easy ways to adapt them to a more modern way of life.
If you are lucky enough to own a property in Kensington and are looking for a complete refurbishment or you have one area of the house that needs updating, we would be delighted to talk to you about your vision. We will work closely with you to ensure that your ideas remain at the centre of our design, while adding our knowledge and experience to bring them to life.
