Much of the area around Hyde Park falls within the City of Westminster, and a significant amount of it sits within conservation areas or involves listed buildings, Stanhope Place, where we refurbished a Grade II listed house from the Tyburnia development, is a case in point. Basement development is common here too, and we added a new basement level as part of that project, working closely with Westminster’s conservation officers throughout.

Elsewhere, in Hyde Park Mews, we carried out the careful reconstruction of a house to include a new basement, and on the edge of the park in Knightsbridge, we completed a full interior fit-out for a mansion-block apartment after being recommended to the client by a prestigious Parisian furniture designer. Every detail was designed to work with the client’s own furniture, from a humidor built into bespoke joinery to a window seat that rises on an automated pneumatic system, so it can be enjoyed sitting or lying down. Projects in this part of London tend to demand the highest standard of execution, given the exclusivity of the area, and that’s as true of the trades and suppliers involved as it is of the design. We work with a small number of trusted contractors and consultants who we know can deliver to that standard, and we stay closely involved through construction to protect the quality of the finished result.
